Walkowitz saturates the page with information. Applying bold lines, light handed – yet relaxed dots and dashes and recognisable shapes. In the top third of the image the eye gravitates towards a confidently defined square, while the bottom third is dominated by a shoal of wavey lines. Scratched markings emerge from the centre of the image, offering the image with a heaviness, and an element of disorder within the composition. A singular circle – interrupted by two lines is the only shape on the page that is free from the noise of these dots and dashes – making it the focal point of the drawing.
