In this exhibition, British painter Michael Pemberton (b. 1974) suggests we each have a personal HUMAN ATMOSPHERE. An ether where we truly exist, unseen by the naked eye but as real and critical to self as anything physical or tangible.
All of Pemberton’s work is completely imaginary, unplanned and without source material. This state of unknowing allows him access to his own human depths more directly and creates opportunities for spontaneous interpretation.
Pemberton investigated how our human atmosphere not only creates us but how we in-turn, are its creators. A symbiotic flow of energy masquerading as thoughts, emotions and behaviours. Like planetary atmospheres and climates, all is interdependent and in flux that results in harmony or chaos, peace or violence.
